*Quintana Roo remains a safe place to visit and there are no current travel restrictions
Cancún. – In response to the December 7 incident at Playa Langosta beach where gunshots were fired, the State Government has announced that it has launched a full investigation into the matter. Furthermore, no one was injured during the isolated incident and the destination remains open to visitors.
Authorities of the Coordination Group for Quintana Roo’s Peace and Security, a special police unit, intervened in a timely manner to avoid further consequences.
The government of Quintana Roo headed by Governor Carlos Joaquin also announced the launch of its special security program in conjunction with the start of the winter holiday to provide additional security. This is in addition to the permanent security and protection strategy that has always been in place to provide safety and security for all visitors.
On December 8, the U.S. Department of State updated its Travel Advisory for Mexico nationwide amid the COVID 19 pandemic. In this case, Quintana Roo remains a safe destination to visit, and there are no travel restrictions for international visitors.
The Quintana Roo government and its state Police Department will continue to work hand in hand with federal and local agencies and the domestic and foreign private sector to keep order and peace, guaranteeing a safe environment for residents and visitors.
