Message from Governor Carlos Joaquín on the actions being taken to address the COVID-19 health emergency
May 14, 2020
Dear Friends of Quintana Roo:
I want to express to all of you my appreciation for the effort you have made and the discipline and commitment to you have shown during these times. Your efforts are the reason why we only have had 1,200 positive cases total and 300 active positive cases currently. This allows us to have sufficient hospital infrastructure to respond to this epidemic in the best possible way.
Today I want to ask you for continued commitment, we are almost there. Please continue to stay at home, and abide by preventive and hygiene measures, so that we can return to the new normal as soon as it is safe.
The future will look very different and include new ways of working, a changing economy, additional sanitation measures, and continued social distancing. If done correctly, it will allow us to return slowly and gradually to the productivity in Quintana Roo, allowing our families to recover from this very strong economic depression.
At the beginning of June, we will be able to resume primary activities including farming, fishing, and construction (which will undoubtedly be one of the first activities to return). All this goes without saying that we must continue to develop and implement new protocols along the way.
Thank you for your support and patience and remember, Together We Will Succeed!
