State police responds immediately after a security incident call.
Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico – Quintana Roo’ s State police chief, Lucio Hernandez, confirmed that after a 911 call, police arrived at a scene where there was an apparent discussion between individuals and an armed person opened fire killing 1 and injuring 2 others. Hernandez confirmed that the three affected are citizens from Canada. The suspect remains at large, and law enforcement have mobilized to arrest him. There is an ongoing investigation to find out the reason of the incident.
The Quintana Roo government and its state Police Department will continue to work hand in hand with federal and local agencies to keep order and peace, guaranteeing a safe environment for residents and visitors.
